Let me take you on a tour of the rest of our Thai adventure.
We visited a lot of temples. A note to everyone who visits Thailand: always keep an extra pair of socks and tissue with you. Socks are recommended because you have to take your shoes off when you go into the temples. Tissue is required because most public restrooms DO NOT supply toilet paper, let alone toilet seat covers.
Anything with a bow around it is holy.
Why are there so many stray dogs?
Probably because they collect money for them at temples.
What type of tourist attraction did we visit more than temples? The ice cream street vendor. The Thai ice cream has a milder flavor than American ice cream, which was the perfect way to cool off or re-energize between sites.
Another one of our daily routines was to light these lanterns. A few weeks before we visited, Chiang Mai had their annual lantern lighting festival and people gather to light and release them at the same time. Bad luck is supposed to float away with your lantern.
Did you know they named a chain of Target-like stores after my husband?Thailand was so much fun. I wish we could have stayed longer, seen more sights and eaten more food. I would highly recommend visiting Chiang Mai if you have a chance to vacation in Thailand.
